Jack Ryan is a Professor of English at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. Educated at New York University and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, he has published articles, both popular and scholarly, on pedagogical subjects, American literature, and film. Dr. Ryan has written for such journals as Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment, Aethlon: The Journal of Sport Literature, and ERIC. He has also written for Creative Screenwriting Magazine.

Professor Ryan is the author of John Sayles: Filmmaker, a critical study of the writer, director, and script-doctor. He teaches a variety of classes at Gettysburg College, including literature, film, and writing.
